Shelagh’s Spring Rain Shawl Update

  • by

A couple of weeks ago I shared with you that Shelagh and her sister Margaret visited my booth at KYAFF. While we were chatting Shelagh picked up a skein of my wonderfully soft baby alpaca, cashmere, and silk yarn. It was love at first touch. She wasn’t able to put it down and ended up purchasing it. I have been following their YouTube channel to see how Shelagh is enjoying knitting with the yarn. She chose to make the Spring… Read More »Shelagh’s Spring Rain Shawl Update

Kitchener Stitch Guides Have Arrived

  • by

I’ve just received a shipment of Kitchener Stitch Guides. If you have ever had to graft an invisible seam, chances are you’ve used the kitchener stitch. It’s the preferred method when you don’t want to see or feel a seam in your knitting. It’s used at the toes of socks, under the arms of sweaters or a scarf knit in two sections. Basically anywhere you need to graft live stitches together to create a seamless join. Who doesn’t need a little… Read More »Kitchener Stitch Guides Have Arrived

Three Sisters Knit and South Beach Yarn Co

  • by

Last week I shared with you that Margaret and Shelagh from Three Sisters Knit stopped by our table at KYAFF (Kawartha Yarn and Fibre Festival). We had a lovely chat and while we were chatting, Shelagh fell in love with one of our skeins of baby alpaca, cashmere and silk yarn. I wasn’t surprised as this yarn is super soft and wonderful in every way. Yes, I am a little biased 😉 but I’m not the only one who loves this… Read More »Three Sisters Knit and South Beach Yarn Co

This past weekend we had the pleasure of being one of 80+ vendors at the KYAFF (Kawartha Yarn and Fibre Festival). KYAFF was a single day event held on June 8, it was well attended by knitters, crocheters, spinners and felters. My  booth was located in the micro market which is an area designed specifically for small companies like mine.  I met so many wonderful, creative people. Two of which were Shelagh and Margaret from the Three Sisters Knit podcast on YouTube.… Read More »South Beach Yarn Co at KYAFF

Sock Pattern: Butterfly Lane Sock Pattern

  • by

I’ve just released my second sock pattern: Butterfly Lane Sock Pattern on Ravelry! I created this pattern last year in honour of the monarch butterflies that summer in my area of the world.  I chose my prettiest summer yarn to craft this pattern and I encourage you to do the same. The pattern features a delicate lace stitch which makes enchanting little butterflies that dance around the leg and top of the foot of the socks. The pattern is easy… Read More »Sock Pattern: Butterfly Lane Sock Pattern

6 Skeins of Speckled Yarn

Speckled Yarn

  • by

Creating speckled yarn is one of my favorite ways to color fibre. One of the reasons I like it so much is because the end result is always a bit of a surprise. After having applied the dye to the yarn I never quite know what the finished product will look like. The process of creating speckled yarn takes time and requires patience. After applying dye to the fibre it needs heat to set it. When it’s been heated (or… Read More »Speckled Yarn
