Toronto Knitters Frolic Cancelled

  • by

It is with a sad heart that I write this post to tell you that the Toronto Knitters Frolic has been cancelled this year. The frolic organizers did not make this decision lightly. They used the information they had available to them to make the best decision possible in light of COVID-19. The organizers informed me of their decision on Sunday, March 15. Today, March 17, Doug Ford has declared a state of emergency in the province of Ontario. This basically means that gatherings of 50 people or more are banned, restaurants and bars are closed but can still provide takeout and delivery service. Schools, daycares, libraries, recreation centers and gyms are also closed.

What are we knitters to do? We must self-isolate by staying home. Staying home lessens the chance of spreading the infection and, on the bright side, increases our knitting time. Now is the time for us to re-evaluate all that is important to us and to find ways help those that are less fortunate. I have a sign in one of my rooms that says, “In a world where you can choose to be anything, be kind.”

One way I am choosing to show kindness is by offering my fellow knitters my Butterfly Lane Sock Pattern for free until March 23, 2020. Use the coupon code “Butterflies are free” to get your copy. Since yesterday it has already been downloaded over 3,000 times. It delights my heart that one little kindness is spreading so much joy!

Stay safe and I hope to see you at one of my other shows this summer.
