As yarn enthusiasts we might find that we have a stash of little balls of yarn leftover from the projects we’ve made. If you are like me, you can’t bear to throw them out but you also aren’t sure how you will use them in another project. So your collection of yarn ends grows and you are forever on the lookout for a creative use for your scrap yarn.
Last week my sister-in-law shared this cute craft idea for hat ornaments made with scrap yarn. The hats are so cute and colourful. I fell in love with the idea of taking some of my scrap yarn and making it into little hats. Best of all the little hats are not only cute and but can also be put together easily. I imagine they will make pretty tree ornaments or decorations for the top of a Christmas package or two. My sister-in-law hopes to use the ones she makes as little party favours over the holiday season.
After seeing my post on Facebook about this creative craft idea, my niece decided to make some with her kids this past weekend. Her children are ages 4 and 7. While her 4 year old needed some adult help to complete the project, her 7 year was able to execute the pattern independently. She shared their crafting time with me through theses photos, which I have permission to share with you. Here’s a sweet glimpse into their crafting time.

On Another Note
I’ve been busy preparing for the Warm and Wooly Pop-Up Shop I’m hosting this weekend and part of the preparation work has been to share free patterns or ‘limited time’ offer patterns on my Facebook page with you. Hopefully these patterns inspire you on your crafting journey. Please take advantage of these patterns and file them away in your knitting pattern stash. I’ve found and stashed away some really great patterns calling for fingering weight and bulky yarns. I think I will continue to post patterns long after my pop-up shop is done.
The snow is falling outside my window as I write and I’m longing to sit by the fire with my knitting and leave the worries of the day behind for a few hours. However you are spending your day today, may you find time to steal away for a few moments with your needles and yarn.
