Toronto Knitters Guild Instagram Takeover

  • by

On June 7, 2020, I will be partnering with the Toronto Knitters Guild by doing an Instragam Takeover of their social media account. This opportunity came about because this year’s Knitters Frolic was cancelled due to COVID-19.

Toronto Knitter's Frolic

For several years I had been applying to be a vendor at the TO Knitters Frolic. Vendor opportunities were always full and the best I could do was put my name on a waiting list. It was always my hope that one day I would be contacted by the committee telling me a spot had become available.

Happy News

This year that day came! The Frolic organizers decided to open up more space for vendors and I was contacted in February with this happy news. I was so excited about the opportunity to participate that I put in a huge order for yarn and I began dying in earnest. I was so looking forward to meeting new people and experiencing all the Knitters Frolic is and has to offer.

Sad News

However my excitement was short lived. In March I was contacted again by the organizing committee with the sad news that this year’s event would have to be cancelled. As much as I knew this was absolutely the right course of action I was also quite disappointed.

Happy News

In April the Frolic committee reached out to share news of how they could support their vendors. The idea they came up with was excellent. They would be hosting a virtual Frolic Season on their Instagram account for the months of May and June. Vendors would be given the opportunity to take over their account for a day and increase their social media reach. Isn’t that such a wonderful way for them to show support for their vendors? My disappointment was replaced with delight.

There was only one problem. I didn’t have an online store to send potential customers to so hubby and I quickly got to work learning the ins and outs of online retail. A major part of this journey was product photography. I think we ended up photographing my yarn 3 or 4 times before we had pictures we were happy with. Who knew taking accurate pictures of a skein of yarn could be so tricky?

If you aren’t following the Toronto Knitters Guild on Instagram you’re missing out on the virtual frolic, but don’t worry it’s not too late, just follow them and scroll through their past posts to get caught up on all the virtual frolic fun. You’ll even see some of my Instagram posts as you scroll through.

I’ve been busy creating content for my takeover. I’m looking forward to the opportunity of introducing myself and my products to you. I’ll also be dying some yarn. I can’t wait for June 7. I hope you will join me!

Infatuation

See you then!
